About The Baltimore Cause
How We Began:
A Journey of Love
The Baltimore Cause was founded in 2014 with a simple goal: make a visible difference in Baltimore neighborhoods.
We began by adopting two vacant lots along West North Avenue through Baltimore's Power in Dirt initiative. For more than two years, we cleaned debris, planted greenery, maintained the spaces, and worked alongside neighbors and local businesses to transform neglected lots into healthier places for the community.
Those early efforts taught us an important lesson. Lasting change doesn't happen through one organization alone. It happens when communities, nonprofits, and local leaders work together.
Inspired by the resilience and collaboration we witnessed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we expanded our mission in 2021. Today, The Baltimore Cause supports organizations across Baltimore City through financial resources, technical assistance, and strategic partnerships that advance community health.
Our Founder
The Baltimore Cause was founded by Christina Ramsey, whose passion for public health and community-driven change inspired the organization in 2014.
What began as a neighborhood beautification effort has grown into a nonprofit dedicated to supporting organizations that improve health, opportunity, and quality of life throughout Baltimore City. Today, Christina continues to lead The Baltimore Cause with a vision of empowering communities through collaboration, strategic investment, and sustainable partnerships.
Our Mission
To strengthen Baltimore communities by investing in organizations and initiatives that improve public health, expand opportunity, and create lasting community impact.
Our Vision
We envision a Baltimore where every neighborhood has access to the resources, partnerships, and opportunities needed to thrive.
Looking Ahead
As The Baltimore Cause continues to grow, we're expanding our impact through fiscal sponsorship, providing mission-aligned organizations with the support they need to focus on creating meaningful change in their communities.
We're excited about what's ahead and look forward to partnering with individuals and organizations who share our commitment to a healthier, stronger Baltimore.
